‘One roof, three industries’ was the call to attend three highly influential trade shows taking place together at the Gallagher Convention Centre from 14 to 16 May this year.

Celebrating its 26th year, Securex South Africa showcased everything related to security, fire protection and cybersecurity. The trade show took place alongside A-OSH Expo, Africa’s leading occupational safety and health trade exhibition and, for the first-time this year, the Facilities Management Expo, which showcased all aspects of facilities management. This combination of shows gave an insightful 360° view of the safety, security and built environments to over 10,000 visitors across the three day event.

Securex South Africa continued to draw in the crowds

Once again, Africa’s leading security and fire trade exhibition wowed its audience with the wide variety and excellence of its offerings, both in the physical security world as well as cybersecurity elements. Exhibitors once again used the show to launch new products and services, and many offered competitions, give-aways and demonstrations. The show brings together commercial, physical and cybersecurity exhibitors and security professionals, keeping visitors up-to-speed with the very latest in products, services and market trends. Exhibitors engaged with over 6,000 attendees, of which 84% either make or influence purchasing decisions.

This year’s show also featured a new 4 sight cyber security pavilion, which included a targeted cyber lab seminar theatre; Vapor Wake K9 law enforcement demonstrations including advanced canine technology; and a security-focused free-to-attend seminar theatre with more than 20 highly relevant sessions. The Fire Protection Association of South Africa (FPASA) held a one-day InFIRes workshop, catering for insurance technical staff and providing feedback on FPASA projects, and the South African Intruder Detection Services Association (SAIDSA) held its Tech-man competition where SAIDSA-certified technicians competed against one another in a practical challenge.

A-OSH Expo 2019 exceeds all our expectations!

A-OSH EXPO turned 9 in 2019, and the show continued to draw in growing crowds, surpassing attendance in 2018, which to date had been the highest ever. Occupational health and safety around South Africa is experiencing continued growing recognition across many different industry verticals. The show is renowned for offering excellent legislative updates and a comprehensive look at the latest trends and most up-to-date product and service offerings.

Reporting a 10% increase in visitors year-on-year, the 3,692 attendees had access to the newest products and services, encompassing a holistic picture of all things related to wellness and safety at work – including health-at-work programmes, environmental issues, personal and protective equipment (PPE), working at height, ergonomics issues, training and education, certification, software and IT, fire safety, and hazardous equipment and chemicals.

Attendees had the opportunity to attend the SAPEMA PPE fashion show and the South African Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (Saiosh) free-to-attend seminar theatre powered by Saiosh and Sapema. Additionally, they had access to the Occu|Fit Wellness Zone which highlighted the laws governing occupational health and the processes required to minimise any risks posed to employees and to the corporate entity itself.

Also taking place alongside A-OSH Expo was the Prefabricated Access Suppliers’ and Manufacturers’ Association (PASMA) Working at Height Theatre which provided a dedicated height safety hub for A-OSH delegates to access expert speakers, live demonstrations, and an opportunity to gain Continued Professional Development (CPD) points with Saiosh. Saiosh also hosted its annual international occupational health and safety conference alongside A-OSH.

Exciting new home for Facilities Management Expo!

Specialised Exhibitions a division of Montgomery Group made the decision to purchase the established Facilities Management Expo in 2019, and to run it alongside Securex and A-OSH. This was in order to provide visitors with a consolidated view of the entire value chain by including all aspects of facilities management. With a solid start in 2019, all stakeholders look forward to continuing onward and upward in 2020.

Showcasing a broad range of products and services associated with property and building management and maintenance, it was an excellent fit with Securex and A-OSH Expo as the three co-located events were able to provide visitors with a consolidated view of the entire supply chain within one venue over a full three day period.

“We have been excited to see the addition of Facilities Management Expo to our exhibition brands,” said Sven Smit, portfolio director at Specialised Exhibitions a division of Montgomery Group. “Speaking with our exhibitors from across the shows, they have seen this as a positive move. There is strength in numbers and the three shows together attracted visitors with an interest in what each has to offer; there is much synergy between the shows.”

The next editions of Securex South Africa, A-OSH Expo and Facilities Management Expo will be taking place at the Gallagher Convention Centre from 2 to 4 June in 2020.
